Christmas Dinner Traditions

Every family has special traditions particularly only to them.  Some of the traditions are carried over from days of yore when certain edibles such as celery and fruit.  Though available all year round now celery is still a staple at most Thanksgiving and Christmas tables.

The Victorians used a celery vase in which to serve their celery.  Even if you do not own a celery vase you can improvise.  I have a green Lenox candle holder shaped similar to the antique celery vase that I can press into service.

For years we always served cranberry sauce in a Nucut nappy made by Imperial Glass Company.  This nappy was used every day in our house with American Brilliant cut glass reserved for the very formal use.  Now the nappy is relegated to the china cabinet where it has a special place of honor.
